Video games are a complete waste of time. Do whatever you want, but I favor reading books, playing, outdoor exercise, work, and real activities.
Since you asked, the absolute biggest waste of all is young men, ages 20 to 30, playing video games.
A man should be working, establishing himself in a trade, inventing or discovering.
If people like James Clerk Maxwell and Michael Faraday had spent their time playing silly video games, we probably wouldn't even have video games today.
Parents and adults (now that you are grown up you parent yourself), here is the basic rule of thumb.
Recreation is to be refreshed after the work is done. First work. Then if there is time left, perhaps a little recreation is good, like a bike ride, a walk in the park, light reading, a picnic with your family, or a little golf, tennis, or the like.
Watching other people frolic on a stage or before a camera, watching other people play sports, or playing video games are wastes of time.
